Lune Valley Kids Club AGM

9 Sep 2008 - 7:30pm
9 Sep 2008 - 9:00pm

Lune Valley Kids Club, which has provided after school and holiday provision for the children of our villages for a decade at the Victoria Institute, needs new volunteers to manage the Club if it is to survive. Interesting and varied opportunities for helping to run the Club are offered to parents, grandparents, business people, and other community volunteers. Some people have come forward, but more are needed. The present Chair, Secretary, Treasurer are retiring after long and successful service and if you are interested in any of these posts please get in touch. Advice and support for managing the Club is provided by Lancashire County Council, as it is for schools.

Helping to run the Club does so much more for our community than provide fun activities for children and peace of mind for working parents. The Club has shown how beneficial community provision can be for the children, who mix with others from different schools, have a break from school, enjoy the care of dedicated, enthusiastic childcare staff, and gain first hand knowledge of our rich community life, seeing for themselves what volunteers can contribute. What a wonderful way to learn about citizenship!

The Club contributes to our community in so many ways. It helps our villages to keep a healthy balance of old and young people enjoying activities together as a community. It has helped to attract other activities which are very popular for our young people. Fuller use of the venue has enabled the Victoria Institute to improve the fabric of the building and services for everyone. Helping the Club is supporting our community!

If you are interested in helping, please contact: Chris Kynch (01524 771744); Chair of LVKC Jane Stanley (01524 36842) before the AGM on September 9th at 7.30 pm at the Victoria Institute.
