Caton Gala
In 2006 we were asked to vacate our store in Copy Lane, so United Utilities could sell it for development. We received £10,000 compensation, so we could rent or buy a store for our Gala equipment. The Gala Committee were approached by the Committee restoring the old Scout Hut for financial help, and offering storage facilities if need for our Gala equipment. We have met the Committee and have gone through their plans for funding, intentions etc for the restored building and we agreed that this is a very worthwhile cause. The facilities would help the Scouts, the youths of our community plus a meeting place for any local organisations.
We have agreed as a Committee that we will donate the £10,000 to the restoration of this worthwhile and much needed facility. This will help pay for central heating - £6,000, roofing costs - £2,000 and showers/kitchen - £2,000. This letter is to inform you of our decision and why it has been made, as it is our opinion that this building will be an additional facility our Village needs and deserves!
P.S. This is the last request for organisations needing funds.
The Ice Cream profit last year was £450 and the Burger’s profit was £400 and both are up for tender. If there are no replies by 12th March we will put it out for outside caterers.
John Hall Chairman for Caton Gala Committee.
