Women's Institute February News
The first meeting of 2008 was held on Thursday 3rd January. On a bitterly cold night, it was a very appropriate choice - a presentation from Dennis Walker on the history of the Lofthouse family and Fisherman’s Friends - from the original menthol eucalyptus lozenges to the variety of flavours now marketed in many countries throughout the world. The competition ‘An old fashioned cold remedy’ was won by Maureen Hayes and the runner up was Hazel Gardner.
The next meeting to be held on the 7th February will be a talk by Mr Paul Wilson ‘ The Lighter Side of Funeral Directing’ Hostesses for the evening - M. Betram, J Bolland and J Bonnick. Flowers - Noreen Ramsden. A New Members evening will be held on Tuesday 26th February at the Institute from 6.30 - 8.30 p.m. A County Advisor, Rosemary Branchfield and some Committee Members will be there to help and advise on any queries concerning any aspect of the Womens’ Institute. Anyone who may be thinking of joining will be most welcome”
