The future of the Caton Youth and Community Centre

25 Mar 2008 - 7:30pm
25 Mar 2008 - 9:00pm

The Centre, on Copy Lane, is presently little used. At the moment, income is less than expenditure and the question has been asked as to whether the village still needs the Centre as it exists today. In the village we have the Victoria Institute, the Scout hut, the sports hall at Caton Community Primary School, the “Police House” and numerous other meeting venues in Churches and pubs: it may well be that we have too many resources which are competing for the village’s use.

If the Centre were to be sold the money raised would be administered by the Trustees in accordance with the original Trust Deed for the benefit of the village youth. This might be spent on supporting organisations to use venues in the village which are presently beyond them financially or providing support for youngsters to engage in activities which will help them to develop skills and aptitudes.

The Trustees and the Management Committee believe that this is a question for the village and they are delighted that the Parish Council are supporting their efforts to find an answer which reflects the views of the village. A meeting will be held at the Youth Centre on Tuesday 25th March 2008 at 7.30pm to consider the future of the Centre. Everyone is invited. Please come and make your views known.
