Gardening Club, December News

It was standing room only for Bill Davies’ talk on Gardening under Climate Change. Thanks everyone for attending and thank you Bill for your time.

The next event is our 125th Anniversary Celebration Evening. We have booked the main hall in the Victoria Institute for the occasion on Thursday 10 January. Start time is 7.30 for 8.00pm when the Celebration Buffet will be served. The buffet will provide a huge range of traditional dishes – not to be missed. We will also be serving tea and coffee, mince pies, cake and a complimentary glass of wine.

On display will be all the old trophies that the club used to present at the Caton Show – it’s quite a collection. There are actually three missing trophies which we would like to recover and display on the 10th. These are The Seymour Swift Challenge Cup, The Holmes Challenge Cup and The W Mailer Trophy. If anyone has these trophies or knows of their whereabouts please contact Jane on 770919. Every other piece of memorabilia will be on display, as well as the old minute books. After the meal there will be the usual socialising with a game or two to while away the January evening. Tickets are available for all paid up members and their partners. The cost will be £10 for currently paid up members and £14.50, the full buffet cost, for non-members – a bargain either way. To get your tickets contact George on 770989, Jane/Graham on 770919 or any member of the committee.

The Gardening Club hopes everyone has a very happy Christmas and New Year. Thanks to all who have supported the club during the year.
