Caton Gala
The big day is nearly upon us, the event will start with the parade led by the Batalan Drummers leaving the Black Bull at 12 noon meandering its way to the field for 12.30pm when the President will judge the floats, ‘dressed-up’ bicycles and fancy dress - remember the theme for this year is ‘animals’.
Attractions on the field will include: Bungee Trampoline, Gyroscope, Rodeo Bull, Bouncy Castles, Birds of Prey display, Craft Tent, Fun Fair and many more stalls.
Following the success of the decorated bicycle competition last year we are including this again, so ‘dress up’ your bicycles and join in the parade.
Our Gala Queen and Attendants for 2008 are:
- Gala Queen - Megan Gosling (Caton Community)
- Attendants - Izzy Walker and Nancy Heeks (Caton St Pauls)
- Page Boy - William Minchom (Caton Community)
We would like to say well done to all the children who entered the drawing competition your pictures were fabulous. The winners are:
- 4-5 year olds - Imogen Webster (Caton St Pauls) - this picture was chosen to appear on the front page of the programme
- 6-7 year olds - Anna Dobson (Caton Community): 8-9 year olds - Harmony Kelsall (Caton Community)
- 10-11 year olds - Kate Elden (Caton Community)
Please collect your prizes on the day from the PA caravan.
The first prize in our Raffle is 2 nights B&B for 2 people in the privately owned Lake District Hotel ‘Underwood House’, facilities include private Indoor Pool, Steam Room and Tennis Court worth £170 courtesy of Bardon Concrete. Other prizes also available to win, so make sure you buy your tickets on the day.
Each year many of you turn up and volunteer to help us set-up the field the evening before and assist on the day itself, your contribution is very much appreciated and we couldn’t manage without you. If you are available this year we would welcome your support again, please either contact Ian Rawcliffe on Tel 770196 or join us at one of our remaining meetings (30 April and 16 May 8pm in the Station Hotel) to find out about the arrangements.
Here’s to a good day - see you all there!!
