Caton W I

Caton W I met at the Victoria Institute on Thursday 3rd May when all members were welcomed by the President, Maureen Johnson. As this was a Member’s Resolution meeting there was no guest speaker, but two of our ladies gave interesting talks; Mrs M Cardy showed picture albums and told us of her viist to America where she swam with dolphins and Mrs M Snowden recounted the times spent working behind the bar with her husband. The topic of the Resolution Meeting was - Dairy Farmers getting a fair price for their milk. The W I support this motion, a lot of members have seen first hand the depletion in the number of dairy herds both locally and nationally. Is this something we want?

The competition this month was for a short poem and was won by Sue Perry, runner up Maureen Johnson. As ever a big thank you to the ladies serving refreshments and also to Maureen Hayes for the flowers.

Our next meeting is on Thursday June 7th, when Mr Robert Brookbanks will be talking about Police Dog Training, so it is only appropriate that the competition will be a Pet Picture. A warm welcome is extended to both members and guests, so make a date in your diary.
