Caton Gala - 12th June 2009
Ideas for additional centre field entertainment are still being discussed, but a show by professional BMX riders has already been booked, as have the popular Batala Drummers and a flying display by birds of prey. Other attractions include the Rodeo Bull, Gyroscope and Bungee Trampoline. If anyone has any good ideas for crowd pulling entertainment suitable for the Gala pleas call Tony on 771029.
The hotly contested ice cream stall concession has been awarded to Caton St Paul’s School.
Caton can rightly feel proud of its Gala. Caton Gala is now may times larger than a lot of village galas. To help the Gala grow still further, more help is needed. Many events do not take place each year because we simply do not have people to run them.
A new adult landscape painting and drawing competition is to be held this year.
Category 1 is for paintings or drawings of the River Lune as seen from higher ground. Category 2 is for paintings or drawings of the bridges over the River Lune.
The finished works will be displayed for public viewing all afternoon inside the new Art Tent on the field. The Category winners will be chosen during the afternoon. The winning entries may be used in a forthcoming Caton Gala Calendar to be brought out for 2011.
The new committee members are Kevin and Ruth Burge; Tom and Rebecca Doherty; Angela Robertson; Simon Fenna and Jackie Smith.
