Caton Gala - 12th June 2010
The Gala Committee recently held its AGM. The following officers were elected:- John Hall - Chairman; Louise Stevens - Secretary; Karen Dickinson - Treasurer. The Committee had just doubled in size with arrival of eight new members. The Vicar at St Paul's the Rev Pollit has agreed to be the Gala President.
Attractions will include:- the welcome return of the Pet and Dog Show and the Craft Show. The fancy dress theme will be "Green Planet" covering things such as going green, the environment, recycling, green energy etc.
The Gala Committee has always been keen to encourage participation on the field by as many of the village's organisations as possible. As long as their activities are for the good of the local community and are non-profit making no fee is payable. The Gala Committee will be running the Tombola this year. Many of the field concessions have already been taken up. Field concession are where the gala committee consents to a village group or organisation carrying out a for profit activity on the field and is charged a fee.
