Keep off the grass!
Submitted by Administrator on Thu, 27/10/2011 - 4:19am.Following on from Caton and Brookhouse’s success in the recent Lancashire Best Kept Village Awards we need to keep looking after our villages. Could we request that cars are not parked on the grass verges of Brookhouse Road as this churns them up and makes cutting the grass a problem.
Thanks to everybody for keeping the villages tidy.
Caton wins Best Kept Village Competition
Submitted by Administrator on Wed, 28/09/2011 - 6:25am.Congratulations Caton! Winners of the Medium Village Class in this year’s Best Kept Village Competition. This is great news as it follows on from the success of Brookhouse in previous years. Fell View Play Area was Highly Commended in the Public Playing Field category. Now we have a fantastic play area we must do what we can to look after it, especially as three of the trees have been snapped off. These will be replaced but at a cost to the local Council Tax payers so it is in everybody’s interest to make sure there is no further damage. Also a reminder that dogs should be kept out of the play area and any mess on the field cleaned up by their owners. Please put litter in the bins provided.
Householders are responsible for ensuring that their hedges don’t obstruct pedestrians on the pavements so the Parish Council would ask that hedges are kept trimmed back from the pavements -Thanks
One last point: there have been a lot of notices and adverts appearing on lamp posts around the village. The Parish Council is concerned that they make the place untidy and will take steps to remove them as they appear. Best not to stick them up in the first place.
Thanks and well done Caton on winning the Best Kept Village Competition.
