Our MP Cat Smith came to the Victoria Institute on 11th August and met about 15 local people.
Issues we raised included weeds and mess on the Millennium Cycleway, cuts to bus services and alternative public transport solutions, future plans for roads and bridges, housing, the future for our area after BREXIT, how to make the city centre more attractive, access to NHS dental services and how to tackle speeding. Central government and EU funding for rural areas was discussed too. There were questions about the Labour Party leadership election, Syria and the refugee crisis. Cat is a member of the cross-party committee on rural services, and will ensure our concerns are raised there. She also undertook to contact Lancashire County Council and Lancaster City Council about local problems
