Bee-friendly planting - successful afternoon

Thank you to everyone who supported our Community Meadow planting at Station Cottage on the Millennium Cycleway on Saturday 2nd April. Despite dreadful weather we had a fantastic turnout of 52 members of our Community who worked all afternoon. Many other members joined us for short bursts of work during the afternoon. This year we were joined by Caton Guides and the Cubs. St Paul’s Scouts joined us for the 3rd year running. We were delighted that members of Litttledale Hall Therapeutic Community joined us once again.  They did a sterling job.

Caton Coop supported us with refreshments, washed down with some good home baking. Thanks  to our trusty contractor, David Bissell who prepared the site and removed the rubble. Last and not least thank you to our sponsors Champion Bowland, and Networks for Nectar for the seed.

On behalf of Lancaster Beekeepers I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your support to develop this superb Community Project which not only benefits wildlife but gives many villagers and visitors much pleasure and enjoyment.

Erica Sarney.

Forage Development Officer for Lancaster Beekeepers.
