Residents

This site has been developed for the residents of the Parish of Caton-with-Littledale in order to provide a means for the sharing of information about events and local news.

To get the most out of the site, we strongly suggest you register

Local Businesses

Businesses residing in the parish boundary or who advertise in the Link are eligible for a free entry in the Local Directory

You will be able to edit your own entry whenever you want and remember - there is no charge!

If you want your entry set up and/or want the ability to edit your entry, contact the website administrator

Village Organisations

The concept of Groups

The term 'group' means any organisation or sub group within an organisation. Let's take the Victoria Institute as an example.

The Victoria Institute Management Committee would be a group. All the organisations that use the Institute would be groups in their own right. A church could be a group but the church council could also be a group in their own right.

Users of this site, once registered, are able to subscribe to the groups of which they are members.

What the Group Manager can do

You are able to add (subscribe) members and delete (unsubscribe) members. You are also able to create news items for the website. The intended audience can either be your own group members or the general public. If the item is published to your own group, then only YOUR group can see and respond to that item. This image shows the tabs that control subscription of members. You can even create another administrator for your group to assist with things...

What can I publish?

As standard, you will be able to publish the following:

  • Story - this is a news article that can be published to your group or the public
  • Discussion - a story that your group can respond to
  • Event - a calendar item that can appear on your own group calendar or on the public calendar - you choose!
  • Minutes - can be attached to an event. If you've had a meeting, the minutes can be published via this site. Again, they can be group only or public.
  • Mailings - you can e-mail all subscribed members of your group at any time from your own admin page on this site.
  • Poll - can be used to get a view on something.

Our only stipulation is that the facilities we provide are to be used for the smooth running of your group and are not used to discuss all and sundry!

Why not have my own website?

Running your own website is time consuming and costly. This site gives you the tools you need to communicate your organistion to your members and the rest of us - and YOU stay in control.

Users of this site only need to visit one place to see all news that is relevant to their life in the community. People are much more likely to read your group news if they are already visiting the site to catch up on other items of interest.

How do I get my Group registered?

In the first instance contact the Site Manager who will do the rest. To run your group, you just need an email address and access to a computer connected to the internet. You do not need anything installing on your computer as you create all your items through this site.
