On February 14th the Gardening Club is pleased to be welcoming Rob Foster of Grosvenor Estates to our meeting. Rob has had a career in moorland management and is going to talk to us about moorland management in general and in particular the restoration of the peat bogs in the Forest of Bowland. We are all aware of the current interest in this activity as it is contributing to the solution of the problem of too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Grosvenor Estates are investing in this long term task and are actively engaged in the work on the moors above us. Rob also has some interesting things to say about our famous gullery up there near Wolfhole Crag.
All are welcome, members(£1) and non-members (£2) including refreshments. Do come and join us - 7.30pm 14th February (what could be more romantic than peat bogs!) in the Storey room of the Victoria Institute. If you want a lift please call Graham on 770919.
