The trip to Llandudno will leave the Victoria Institute on Thursday 26th August at 9.00am.

Billy Winn of Hornby Butchers will show us how to make some of their award winning sausages. We might even get to taste some!
The competition will be for a recipe using sausages.

The watercolour painting group will be starting again on Friday 3rd September after our summer break. We will also be meeting on the 17th. We meet at Brookhouse Methodist Church from 1-3pm.
Everyone is welcome whether beginners or more advanced.
A big thank-you to everyone who supported our summer fundraising activities. Thank-you too to the Gala Committee for allowing us the chance to do some much needed fundraising. All funds raised goes back in to support the club, and they are vital for the club to continue.
We are starting the process of planning our 2011 Gala Day. Our Annual General Meeting is on 8th September at the Station Hotel at 8.00pm. We need at least 2 new committee members.
During the first half of July there will be the usual judging of Best Kept Gardens, in conjunction with the Parish Council. The Awards will be presented at our September meeting on Thursday 9 September, 7 30 pm.
The meeting will also be our annual mini Harvest show. Categories for the show will be:
The great September Treasure Hunt is on! Saturday 11th September! Join us for a fun afternoon starting from the Victoria Institute at 1pm and returning by 3pm. A mystery trail with many eatable yummy prizes!
Price £7.00 per adult, accompanied children free. No dogs. The major part of the garden can be reached by wheel chair. Refreshments are available.
DIRECTIONS: Take the M6 to junction 34 then A683 to Caton (2 miles), turn right towards Quernmore and after half a mile you reach the entrance.

From 1934 to 1955 the Lux Radio Theatre was one of the top shows on American Radio. It featured weekly adaptations of Hit Hollywood Films.
The lecture will be given by Jeffrey Richards, Professor of Cultural History at Lancaster University and a regular broadcaster on Radio 3 and 4. It will be illustrated by extracts from the Shows and tells the story of this remarkable programme.
As well as holding the AGM this evening, we will also have a talk by Stephanie Whitfield of the Association of Country Women of the World.

The Twinning Association is putting on a “Caton’s Got Talent” show on Saturday 20th November at 7.30 in the Victoria Institute. What we need to know now is how many of you out there – singers, dancers, jugglers, comedians, ventriloquists, novelty acts – would like to come and show off your talent.
