The competition will be for a recipe using sausages.

A big thank-you to everyone who supported our summer fundraising activities. Thank-you too to the Gala Committee for allowing us the chance to do some much needed fundraising. All funds raised goes back in to support the club, and they are vital for the club to continue.

We are starting the process of planning our 2011 Gala Day. Our Annual General Meeting is on 8th September at the Station Hotel at 8.00pm. We need at least 2 new committee members.

During the first half of July there will be the usual judging of Best Kept Gardens, in conjunction with the Parish Council. The Awards will be presented at our September meeting on Thursday 9 September, 7 30 pm.

From 1934 to 1955 the Lux Radio Theatre was one of the top shows on American Radio. It featured weekly adaptations of Hit Hollywood Films.

The lecture will be given by Jeffrey Richards, Professor of Cultural History at Lancaster University and a regular broadcaster on Radio 3 and 4. It will be illustrated by extracts from the Shows and tells the story of this remarkable programme.

The Twinning Association is putting on a “Caton’s Got Talent” show on Saturday 20th November at 7.30 in the Victoria Institute. What we need to know now is how many of you out there – singers, dancers, jugglers, comedians, ventriloquists, novelty acts – would like to come and show off your talent.
