Annual General Meeting will take place in the Victoria Institute on Thursday 28th January 2010 at 2.00pm. It is important that as many of you as possible attend this meeting. Do try to come along.

To add to our thriving Cub Pack here in Caton, we are looking to start Beavers for children aged 6 - 8 years and re-open our Scout Troop for young people aged 10 1/2 to 14 years. Scouting offers adventure, challenge and fun for boys and girls and we would like to offer this experience to a wider range of young people.
The dog handler from HM Prison, Haverigg will be demonstrating the kind of work which is done by prison dogs.
The competition for this meeting is a picture of a dog (any medium).

February Parish Council Meeting
Friday 12th February, 3.15pm-5.15pm in the schools sports hall. £5 family ticket up to year 6. Parental supervision is required for all children!

This fund raising event has been arranged by the WI but is open to all. There is an entry fee of £2.50 which includes light refreshments.
Paul Durham of the Mountain Rescue Team will speak about their work. There will be a bring and buy stall and raffle. All proceeds from the meeting will be donated to MRT.

There will be Hotpot and Bingo in the Victoria Institute on Thursday 25th February, commencing with the meal at 1.30pm, followed by Bingo. Ann Sandwell will be speaking about her passion for patchwork and will bring various items to illustrate her talk.
The competition will be for an item of patchwork.
Hostesses for the evening are J Bonnick, M Cardy and J Cuthbertson and flowers will be the responsibility of M Cardy.

Our March meeting is on the 18th at 2.15pm in the Institute when we will have Jack Marning who will give us a talk and slide show on ‘Fishing in Morecambe Bay.’ This is a speaker suggested by one of our members. There will be the usual refreshments and raffle.
We are getting ready for the visit to Socx on 6th - 9th May. We can’t give any details yet but hope that you will keep the date in your diary if you are interested in joining the party.

Your clocks move FORWARD one hour so you will lose an hours sleep!
Various members will entertain us in true Lancashire fashion. There will also be a hot pot supper.
The competition will be for a pace egg and hostesses will be L Goff, B Gray and J Hayton. Flowers will be provided by Margaret Graham.
The annual Village walk of Witness will take place on Good Friday 2nd April. Starting at 9.45am at Our Ladies Caton. The walk will move through the villages calling at Caton Methodist, Caton Baptist and Brookhouse Methodist for a reading, prayers and a hymn. It will finish at Caton St Pauls for a short service.
Easter Saturday - on 3rd April - the Great Easter Egg treasure hunt is on! Join us for a fun afternoon starting from the Victoria Institute at 1pm and returning by 3pm. A mystery trail with many chocolatey prizes! Entry £2 adults £1 children or £5 families ‘on the door’. Everyone is welcome!
On Wednesday 7th April from 10.30am until 11.45 in the Church Hall there will be our monthly "Coffee Morning". We will be welcoming the "Red Cross" this month and the stalls they bring will provide interest and variety as well as helping to raise money for the splendid work they do. Of course our usual stalls will be there, cards, cakes and bric-a-brac.
Price £7.00 per adult, accompanied children free. No dogs. The major part of the garden can be reached by wheel chair. Refreshments are available.
DIRECTIONS: Take the M6 to junction 34 then A683 to Caton (2 miles), turn right towards Quernmore and after half a mile you reach the entrance.
On Thursday April 15th we are having a party to celebrate 40 years since the Friendship Club was formed. There will be a lunch catered for by Julie Stevenson followed by entertainment. This will be held at the Victoria Institute at 12.30 for a 1.00pm lunch.
The Annual Coffee Morning will take place at the Victoria Institute on Saturday 17th April from 10.00 until noon. We will be having all the usual stalls - Cakes & Produce; Books & Games; Bric-a-Brac; Plants and a Raffle.
