My thanks go to all the Committee and members who attended the New years Party on January 9th. I think we made a good choice going to Julia for the meal. We thank her for providing this and also to the ‘Four in Harmony’ for the entertainment. We look forward to next year’s party.

Maurice Steel is well known for his photographic presentations of the area. Having retired, he has been travelling further afield - hence the title of his latest presentation. Who knows where he has been?

We enjoyed great turnouts at our January and February meetings. Thanks to all for the support and to those who helped with refreshments etc. And without looking it up does anyone else out there know what an ortolan is? Marion did!
We hope to have had a good turn up at our February meeting when we had a film show by John Brayshaw.

We are holding another of our hugely popular Nearly New Sales at Brookhouse Methodist Church on Thursday 2nd April at 7pm - 8.30pm. This is a sale of Nearly New Children's items such as clothes, toys, books, baby equipment and maternity wear. Entrance is £1 and includes a tea or coffee. There will also be a cake stall. Please come along and support us and grab a bargain!

Brookhouse Methodist Church at 7-00pm on Sunday 19th April for a two hour concert. This was a great success last year and obviously we are hoping it will be equally as good this year.

The first trip of the season will depart on Wednesday 22nd April, departing from the Victoria Institute at 12noon. Please note that the trips normally take place on Thursdays, but there is no market at Skipton on a Thursday. Your representative will be calling for you to book your seat. Please be aware that there is one coach only, so please book when they call to avoid disappointment.
On Friday 24th April we are holding another Textile Recycling. A van will be outside the School from 8.00 am to 9.00 am that morning.
This is a good opportunity to have a spring clean. Items that are suitable are as follows:-
An extra meeting this month is the Group meeting in Arkholme.

Our next fund raising event will be a Games Evening on a French theme on Friday 24th April in St Paul's Church Hall, Brookhouse. This should be a fun event for all the family. Tickets, available from members of the committee, Brookhouse Convenience store or ring 770002, are £5 for adults and £2.50 for children. This will include a glass of wine or soft drink and nibbles.
The Annual Coffee morning for the Caton & Halton Support Group will be held at the Victoria Institute on Saturday 25th April from 10.00am until noon. There will be all the usual stalls - Cakes & Preserves; Bric-a-Brac; New Items; Books and Jigsaws; and Crafts plus a Raffle. Admission will remain at 75pence to include tea/coffee & home made biscuits.

The Annual Parish Assembly will be held on Thursday 30th April at 7.30 pm at Caton St Paul’s School, Brookhouse. This meeting is your opportunity to have your say in what the Parish Council does. This year there will be a talk about ‘Making Caton and Brookhouse Fair Trade Villages’. Please try and attend even if it is just to find out what goes on.

A coffee morning is being held at the Ship Inn, Caton on Saturday 9th May commencing at 10.00am. We hope to build on the work that has been done developing a Neighbourhood watch network in the village. We need to form a committee for Brookhouse Road, and to set up other groups in the villages.

Lancaster and Fleetwood Liberal Democrats have arranged a Public Meeting at 7.00pm on Friday 15th May at the Victoria Institute, Caton. Two speakers, questions and a break for Coffee and cake.
For a 50p entrance fee come along and enjoy coffee and biscuits in the Victoria Institute – and maybe buy some plants in aid of the Caton and Brookhouse Gardening Club. This is our major fund raising event of the year and always turns out to be a friendly sociable gathering even if you don’t find anything to buy.
