This year’s Littledale Sheepdog Trial will be held on 21st August at Deep Clough Farm, Littledale. It will start at 8am and continue until the early evening. Farm house catering will be available at the trial. Last year the trial raised £100 for Leukaemia Research and £50 for Caton Pre-School Play Group.
The trip to Harrogate will leave the Victoria Institute at 10.00am on Thursday 23rd August. The first pick-up will be Brookhouse.

Members and non-members (men and women) are invited to join us on this evening when our speaker, Maurice Steele, will show a film taking us along the River Eden from its source to the sea.
Maurice farms in Eskdale and is well known for his excellent photography.
Following the presentation there will be wine and light refreshments served.
Price £5.00 per adult, accompanied children free. No dogs. The major part of the garden can be reached by wheel chair. Refreshments are available.

Pots of interest
Best Kept Garden presentation followed by Jaqueline Iddon, of the Hardy Plants Nursery, Bretherton, talking on 'Pots of Interest'
This annual event will be held at Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club on Monday afternoon 17th September. It is open to any resident in the Parish with a recognised golf handicap and the format will be similar to previous years i.e. a fourball Stableford with partners drawn on the day.
Today we are having a members day so bring along an object to talk about for about 5 minutes.

A talk on the spectacular flora and fauna on the island of Mull and off the coast by by Jacqui Fereday who is the Visitor Centre Manager at Leighton Moss RSPB reserve.

Caton Pre-School Playgroup will be holding a Nearly New sale on Tuesday the 16TH October at 7pm at Brookhouse Methodist Church. Admission is £1 to include a tea or coffee whilst you browse.

On Friday 2nd November we are holding a Textiles Collection outside School between 8.15 – 9.15 am. There will be a van outside School for you to drop your bagged items off.
Plans are well ahead now for what promises to be a great night of family entertainment so let’s hope that this will be a sell-out performance.

Gardening under climate change
Bill Davies, Director of the Lancaster Environment Centre, and long time resident of the village, will be telling us how global warming is affecting our plant growth now and the predictions for the future of gardening practice.
Lune Valley Pre-School Centre is once again running their trip to Chester City Centre, on Saturday 10th November. The coach will leave the Black Bull at 8.00am and the Victoria Institute at 8.10am.
