CATON
Open garden at Heywood House as part of the National Gardens Scheme
Entry: adults £3.00, children free
It will be the second occasion that the public has been able to see the new premises of Europe’s original charity for the rehabilitation of racehorses at Halton in Lancashire.
The inaugural open day in June last year was a huge success, drawing large crowds of supporters.
The TRC moved to Whinney Hill, a 230-acre former dairy farm at Halton, near Lancaster, just over 18 months ago. An official opening ceremony was conducted by the Princess Royal in March this year.
The open day is between 12 noon and 4pm, and will include two demonstration clinics at 1.00pm and 3.00pm by the TRC’s trainer Julie Robinson when she will illustrate the kinds of issues, problems and challenges that are faced when rehabilitating former racehorses.
The TRC’s founder Carrie Humble, MBE said: “The Open Day is the one opportunity each year when the public and our supporters can enjoy seeing all the horses, meet the staff and watch how we work. Whinney Hill is such a fantastic place and I love our Open Days. It is very important to the TRC that people can witness our work and its results.”
Admission is £5 adults; £3 concessions, including children and unwaged. Tickets can be booked in advance by calling the TRC on 01524 812649, or bought at the gate on the day.
The event is not suitable for very young children. No dogs are allowed on the yard.
Further details can be obtained by calling 01524 812649
