Parish Council Elections
Submitted by Bruce Alexander on Tue, 24/04/2007 - 1:08pm.It looks like there will be an election for the new Parish Council on Thursday 3rd May. Our publicity paid off and we have fourteen residents keen to be Councillors. The first meeting will be on the Tuesday after the election and I will do my best to get the details to all new Councillors as soon as possible after I know the result.
Litter
Submitted by Bruce Alexander on Tue, 24/04/2007 - 1:09pm.I am getting reports that there is always a lot of litter outside the Victoria Institute and elsewhere in the Village. Can the Parish Council make a plea for everybody to try and keep the place clean. If there are persistent offenders, dropping litter, they can be fined by the City Council under new powers but we need some evidence - photos from a mobile are good enough.
Community Awards

To John Asworth for his work with young people and especially the Scouts in this their centenary year.
Caton Gala
Submitted by Ian Rawcliffe on Tue, 24/04/2007 - 1:17pm.The big day is nearly upon us. The Parade leaves the Black Bull at 12noon. Attractions on the field include:- Magnus the StrongMan; Comedy Trampoline display; Bungee Trampoline; Craft Tent, and Funfair. All for only £2.50 for adults, Children Free.
Caton & Brookhouse Gardening Club

At the AGM Joan Cunliffe left the committee. Joan has been a stalwart of the club since its renaissance and we are all very grateful for her contribution over the past 9 years. Happy retirement Joan as a mere member of the society!
Plant Sale and Coffee Morning
Submitted by Jane Ransom on Tue, 24/04/2007 - 1:21pm.Our plant sale and coffee morning is on Saturday 12 May from 10 am to 12 noon at the Victoria Institute. Please come along and support one of our main fund raising efforts of the year and do a bit of socialising at the same time. Volunteers to help behind the stalls would be welcome. Entrance is 50p and this includes coffee/tea and biscuits.
Gardening Club trip to Levens Hall

Details of timing, cost and transport will be posted to those attending nearer the time. In broad terms we will be travelling by car, meeting at 12:30pm at the kiosk, and club members from last year will have subsidised entry. Should be good – the topiary is in great shape!
C & B Senior Citizens - Trip to Bakewell & Buxton

First pick-up will be Caton and onwards to Brookhouse. This trip was much enjoyed the last time we went to this area, so be sure to book your seat via your representative. There will be one coach only.

Caton Sports Association

Lunesdale Lawn Tennis Club - Open Sundays

Friendship Club - May Trip

On Thursday May 17th we are going to Leyland Garden Centre or a Motor Museum. We leave Brookhouse and the Institute at 1pm, returning about 6pm. We only have 1 coach so it is members only at first. Agents will contact members.

2 One Act Plays - Hornby Drama Group

Community Library

Books can be taken out for up to three weeks. There is a folder to sign out what you have taken.
