The Annual Parish Meeting of Caton-with-Littledale.

This is your chance to hear about what is going on in Caton and Brookhouse and put questions to the Parish Council.

There will be short talks on the Twinning and on the redevelopment of Fell View play area.

As you may know the Parish Council has been consulting on proposed developments at Fell View and has put in a bid for funding. The plans have changed slightly and we are going ahead with the modernisation of the existing play area to include equipment for the under fives and for older children.

The big day is nearly upon us, the event will start with the parade led by the Batalan Drummers leaving the Black Bull at 12 noon meandering its way to the field for 12.30pm when the President will judge the floats, ‘dressed-up’ bicycles and fancy dress - remember the theme for this year is ‘animals’.

New landlord Mark Merrifield (a familiar face to many!) and his team at The Ship will be delighted to welcome all customers old and new to an Open Weekend.

From Friday 2nd May-Monday 5th May. Open all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Bouncy Castle for the kids, everyone welcome. New Menu, new prices. Home cooked food using only the finest local produce.

The trip to Carlisle will leave the Victoria Institute on Thursday 22nd May at 10.00am. Caton will be the first pick-up this time. Your representative will be contacting you to book your seat.

This meeting is for members only and is when we will consider the recommendations for WI resolutions to be put before the general assembly.

Each year members vote on which resolutions will be put forward at the NFWI Annual General Meeting. The shortlist has not got down to two but only one can go forward so we will need to make a decision.

Lancaster Sword Club at Caton Community Sports centre is running beginners courses for adults and children beginning on Thursday 24 April.

Children from 7.00pm adults from 8.00pm.

Hornby Drama group and Lancaster Footlights will be presenting an evening of three one act plays on Friday 16 May ( at Hornby Institute ) and Saturday 17 May (at Halton Community Centre) Tickets are £5 ( at the door ) and performances start at 7.30.

An Aggregates Levy grant, administered by Lancashire County Council, has provided the Victoria Institute with funding for progressing architect plans for the next stage of refurbishments; quantity surveyor costings of each part to support further grant applications; and a full appraisal of energy efficiency and renewable possibilities for the building.

Our plant sale and coffee morning is on Saturday 10 May from 10 am to 12 noon at the Victoria Institute.

We have a selection of bedding plants, basket plants, a few perennials and some donated plants and vegetables. We also have the ubiquitious raffle!
