Best Kept Village Competition
Submitted by Administrator on Wed, 19/03/2008 - 6:51am.The Parish Council is once again entering Caton and Brookhouse in this competition which is being run for its fiftieth year. They visit the villages unannounced twice in July to do the judging and are looking for Civic Pride, lack of litter and dog mess etc and will be assessing our public spaces.
Hanging Baskets
Submitted by Administrator on Wed, 19/03/2008 - 6:53am.It is now time to take advantage of the scheme to supply Hanging Baskets being run by the Parish Council. It costs £ 15.20 to have your existing basket planted up or £ 22.20 to have a brand new basket planted with a variety of plants and delivered in full bloom to your door at the end of May.
St George's Day

We have now heard that a party of about 36 people from Socx is planning to visit us from 10-13th April. They expect to arrive late afternoon on Thursday 10th and will leave on Sunday morning.

Caton & Brookhouse Senior Citizens Club
Submitted by Administrator on Wed, 19/03/2008 - 7:16am.Here we are at the start of the new season of trips out. The first one will be to Boundary Mill Outlet on Thursday 24th April, leaving the Victoria Institute at 11.30am. First pick-up will be Brookhouse at 11.20am. Your representative will be calling to enable you to book your seat and please note, there will normally be one coach only for all the trips.
Caton St Pauls School Textile Recycle
Submitted by Administrator on Tue, 25/03/2008 - 7:49am.On Friday 25th April 2008 between 8.15 am and 9.15 am we will be holding a textile recycle outside the School gates on Moorside Road. This is a good chance to have a spring clean and get rid of those unwanted items e.g. clothes, curtains, bedding, shoes, bags etc. The better items are sent abroad to the poorer countries and the rest is recycled.

Summary of the "North West Cancer Research Fund Coffee Morning" on 8 Mar 2008 - 10:00am
Submitted by Administrator on Wed, 19/03/2008 - 7:18am.The total raised at the Coffee Morning on 8th March and including proceeds from the quiz, came to £487 - a splendid amount! Thanks are due to all who contributed in any way, by buying tickets or quiz sheets, by giving items for raffle or sale, by baking for the event, helping on the day or in any other way.
Lune Valley Craft Fairs
Submitted by Administrator on Wed, 19/03/2008 - 7:06am.Lune Valley Craft Fairs has been set up to showcase the talents of local artisans. Most of whom are from the Lune Valley area, with one or two from further afield in the North West.
The fairs will be held at the Victoria Institute in Caton on 6th April, 8th June & 17th August – and hopefully another one later in the year in time for your Christmas shopping.
A musical afternoon with the Rainbow Singers.
