We have held a Village Meeting to discuss how people feel about a Twinning Arrangement with the French Village of Socx. Obviously it is only worth progressing if there is a certain level of enthusiasm in the Village.

The Parish Council is aware of the state of the road surface at the Croft and have been pushing for the County to do something about it. All they promise is that they will fill in the pot holes as soon as possible. In the meantime we would urge pedestrians to take extra care when using the Croft. We will keep up the pressure on the County Council.

This year we have elections for a new Parish Council and we really need to get people to stand for election to the Parish Council. It is not a closed shop, anybody in the Parish can stand so, if you want to get involved this is your chance.

Over the Christmas period there were a couple of exciting developments in the attempts to get a library service back into the village. We hope to get a book borrowing scheme off the ground soon. The intention is to base a small book borrowing library at the Victoria Institute where people have been dropping off their books.

Do you know an ‘unsung’ hero in our community? Is there someone who makes a real difference to your life - who you think deserves a public ‘thank you’?  Has someone helped in your organisation and always been there when needed?

Arrangements for the Gala are now well underway. As announced last month the theme is Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Remember for all those who own a bicycle you can decorate it and join the parade. A prize will be given to the best decorated. Lets make this year's Gala better than ever.

There will be a Hot Pot Lunch followed by Bingo in the Victoria Institute on Thursday 22nd February commencing at 1.30pm. Please see your representative to book your lunch.

Spring is coming and it is time for our Annual Coffee Morning for NWCRF. Money raised supports research at Lancaster University, Liverpool and Bangor, and every £1 raised attracts up to £4 from other bodies.

Family Bingo Night at Caton St Paul's School -  6.00pm on Wed 7th of February.

On Thursday February 15th at 2.15pm in the Victoria Institute we are looking forward to the return of David Peary with his amusing stories about being a coach driver. Come on members please support the meeting and enjoy a sociable afternoon with cup of tea and a raffle. We welcome visitors as well.

You may remember our very own Trevor Piearce talking to us last year about ferns. Well he’s back. On Thursday February 8th at 7.30pm in the Victoria Institute Trevor will be telling us all about Life in the Soil and the world beneath our feet.
