LESS aims to cut carbon emissions in Caton
Submitted by Administrator on Fri, 20/06/2008 - 7:06am.Lancaster-based LESS Climate Change and Energy Advice Project has made it onto the 100-strong nationwide shortlist competing for a slice of a million-pound Big Green Challenge prize fund by coming up with innovative ways to tackle climate change in the community.

Visit to France 30 Oct - 2nd Nov 2008
Submitted by Ruth Gibbons on Tue, 17/06/2008 - 7:09am.Following the highly successful visit of our French guests from our twin village of Socx in April, we are now planning our return trip to France at the end of October. Everybody – English and French alike – who took part in the events here of last April greatly enjoyed them.

The driver, Chris, avoided the motorway and took a scenic route to Penrith via Old Town, Shap, Lowther Park and Ulswater. After lunch etc. we headed to Appeby to see the end of the fair ( some horse washing was being carried out ) and had afternoon tea.

The Black Bull Boys 2009 Calendar
Submitted by Administrator on Sat, 14/06/2008 - 7:05am.Regulars from the Black Bull in Brookhouse have removed their clothing for charity and have launched their 2009 calendar which is now on sale.
The calendar features 22 well known male faces (and other parts of the anatomy), aged between 30 and 80 posing in and around the pub and in the cellar.
