Welcome to Caton-with-Littledale

The Caton Oak and the Fish Stones

The Parish Council of Caton-with-Littledale welcomes you to our village website. For visitors to the area, there is a wealth of information about things to do, places to eat & drink and a listing of local accommodation.

Local residents can catch up with the latest news, forthcoming events and locate local businesses serving the area. We strongly suggest residents register with this site to ensure you see everything intended for you.

The parish is set in the beautiful Lower Lune Valley on the A683 just 10 minutes from the M6 and only 4½ miles from Lancaster. The landscape ranges from hills and becks to the flat flood plain of the River Lune. The choice of terrain makes for varied walks and cycle rides where birds and wildlife abound.

The parish comprises of bustling Caton, set on the A683 with its shops, pubs and garage. Brookhouse, where the picturesque parish church resides, is in a quieter setting. Around the church and the Black Bull pub are narrow streets and old cottages - there's even a plague stone set in the bridge over Bull Beck.

The outlaying areas of the parish are Caton Green, set on a prominent rise with views over the valley, and Littledale set in a beautiful landscape of hills and becks which are some of the most stunning in Lancashire.

Twinning Visit

19 adults and three children went on the twinning visit to Socx this last weekend. We travelled by coach and for the first time crossed the channel via the tunnel - a new experience for us all! On the journey down we had all weathers - sun, torrential rain and some snow!

However, when we arrived in Socx it was to a warm welcome and a champagne reception in the Mairie. We were soon introduced to our hosts and taken to their homes.

On Friday we spent the day all together, being taken around various points of interest in the area then returned in the evening for a Jacob's Join party in the village hall.

Saturday included various activities with our hosts; visits to Bruges and Ypres, sand yachting, walking and a canal boat trip to Dunkirk were all on offer.

The day finished with a gala dinner in the village hall, provided by their local restaurateur and a spectacular cabaret act.

It certainly set us thinking what we will do when they next visit us!

The English prepare to leave.
